  We can’t move the organization forward without supporting the individuals within it. This session opens with a clear distinction between Learning & Development and Talent Development—two essential, but often conflated, drivers of organizational growth. Using performance review data as a starting point, we’ll explore how assessments like DiSC can uncover individual gaps, and how coaching, upskilling, leadership development, and succession planning can meet those needs. Most importantly, we’ll embrace the "humanness" of talent development and what people need to feel safe, motivated, and ready to make a difference at every level.

  Consult > Design > Deliver! A Foundational L&D Practitioner's Series

  This series is designed for early- to mid-career Learning & Development professionals eager to build practical, real-world skills. Whether you're an instructional designer, facilitator, or talent development leader, this series will equip you with the tools and frameworks to elevate your L&D practice.

  Session 3: Delivery & Evaluation - Launching for Impact

  Move from “nearly ready” to “live and measurable.” This capstone workshop focuses on executing, evaluating, and sustaining your learning initiative. Participants will:

  • Lead a successful launch. Plan instruction delivery, including facilitator prep.
  • Facilitate with confidence. Practice delivery techniques that keep adult learners engaged while managing real-time challenges.
  • Measure what matters. Design outcome metrics using the Kirkpatrick model and connect results to organizational KPIs.

  By day’s end you will have a launch checklist, evaluation instruments, and a strategy for showcasing results—positioning your program for scalable, demonstrable success.

  
  

  Speaker Bios
  

  Dr. Dan Jensen is a higher education professional in both leadership and faculty roles. He has developed innovative and impactful curriculum/process designs for executive MBA, professional MBA, and undergraduate programs. He leverages his past experiences as an executive coach, educator and training/organization development professional to help his students achieve their potential. His research interests include entrepreneurship, strategy, organization development, organizational behavior, strategic career management, and advances in educational technology and online learning. He currently serves as Director of UCM’s MBA program.

  With three decades of experience in talent development, Shannon Swift has designed and delivered over 10,000 hours of training across both in-person and virtual platforms. Specializing in leadership development, communication, customer service, and train-the-trainer programs, she has partnered both internally and externally with organizations to implement transformative learning solutions. Now teaching graduate and undergraduate courses at the University of Central Missouri, Shannon is focused on business communications, human resources management, and other talent development-related courses. She also contracts with Kansas City-based companies to provide learning facilitation and leadership coaching services.
